| Shrub or small tree that can grow to 6-7m in its native environment. The large phyllodes ( flattened leafstalk that functions as a leaf) grow to 30cm long and 20cm in width, hence the name "Elephant ears wattle" The flowers form as golden balls 2 cm in Diameter and appear most of the year. Often used as a feature plant for it's spectacular foliage. As with all Acacia good drainage and full sun is recommended. 6 large easy to grow seeds. Germination: 5-15 days Pre-treatment: Pour just-boiled water over seeds in a container and soak for 24 hours. Sow swollen seeds, re-treat others. Sowing: Depth of seed, keep warm and moist, but not wet. Zone: 8-10 |
