| Dwarf spreading shrub with horizontal branches from south-west of Perth in sand plain country sometimes associated with mallee. Annual rainfall 40cm (16") per year. Dusky-red flower heads 15-18 cm (6'-7"). Usually pollinated by ants. Easy grower. Grows best in light to medium well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. Regular watering encourages growth. Tolerates drought and frost once established. Great for coastal and embankment planting. Excellent container plant. No pre-treatment required. Seed germinates readily at 20-25 °C 64-80 °F. Sow seed in mix 3:1 Perlite:Peat and cover the depth of the seed. Keep moist until germination occurs. Best to sow in individual containers to prevent damage to the root system when transplanting. Drench seed with a fungicide after sowing to prevent "Damping Off'. 5 seeds Germination: 21-42 days Pre-treatment: Not required
