| Leucadendron salignum is the most widespread species of the family Proteaceae, occurring in a large part of South Africa. It occurs on a wide range of soil types. Leucadendrons are dioecious, i.e. separate male and female plants. Beautiful, smallish shrub, with green leaves and profuse purple- red blush in winter-spring. Must be grown in full sun for good color and grown in well-drained soils. Drought and frost tolerant -6 °C (20F). Can be grown as a cut flower. Suitable for container.
