| Passiflora alata or Winged-Stem Passionflower produces beautiful flowers and edible fruit. It looks like a smaller version of Passiflora quadrangularis. It produces highly fragrant flowers from 7-10 cm (3-4″) in diameter, the petals and sepals bright red, the filaments are red, white and purple. The fruits are oval, yellow to bright orange colour, 8-15 cm (3-6″) long and 5-10 cm (2-4″) wide. The flesh is light orange, slightly acidic and very tasty. They are widely consumed in Brazil.
