A member of the Squash family GOURD Bitter Jounpuri very popular tropical climber with vines that grow 5-6 metres tall with heavily warted skin cucumber-like fruits that are crisp and tender when harvesting young, 10-15 cm long.
A summer variety is also called Bitter Melon.

Used extensively in Asian and Indian cuisine.
First pickings after 55-60 days.

Adaptable to most good garden soils but prefers rich soil with a generous amount of water in full sun.

Sow: 2cm deep
Sow 3-4 seeds in raised mounds 1 metre apart in a direct in growing position. Thin to the two strongest plants in each mound.
