An intricate and pungent attractive ornamental small shrub with green phyllodes (leaves) triangular-lanceolate in shape 4 to 12 mm long. Flowers occur profusely in a spectacular display of bright yellow spherical blooms during September and October.
Forms a dense bushy habit that performs well in the garden.

Adaptable to a range of soil including sand, gravelly loam and clay. Drought tolerant and frost hardy.
Occurs naturally in the Avon Wheatbelt, Coolgardie and Mallee regions of the Eremaean and South-West Provinces of Western Australia.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
