Bright yellow flowers spheres are borne in simple racemes about 30 mm long with a pleasantly sweet fragrance that arises near and at the ends of branchlets.
The weight of the flowering causes the outer branches to become pendulous, flowering is prolonged and prolific, extending from the end of July through winter to early October.

Native to the tablelands of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Prefers medium to heavy soils in an open sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. Suitable to areas with high annual rainfall and winter frost.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
