Commonly known as Ausfeld's wattle or whipstick cinnamon wattle, Acacia ausfeldii displays yellow globular flowerheads that appear in groups of two or three in the phyllode (leaf) axils from August to October. Flowers are followed by straight seed pods which are 4 to 9 cm long and 2 to 4 mm wide containing the seed,
Endemic to south-eastern Australia t grows to between 1 and 4 metres high with phyllodes (leaves) 2 to 7 cm long and 2 to 6 mm wide.
Prefers a well-drained soil in an open sunny position.Drought-resistant but frost tender. Ideally suited to shallow soil on rocky land and sandstone country. Suitable for tropical areas providing soil is free draining.
Pre-treatment: Hot Water
Place the seed in a container and pour in just boiled water and allow to soak overnight.
The swollen seed can then be sown, re-treat seeds that have not swollen.
Sow seed 3-5mm keep moist.Germination should occur in 10-21 days @ 18-22C.
