A medium-sized shrub with a slender stem and spreading branches and a profusion of sweetly scented golden balls appear from winter to early spring.
Most Acacia species have phyllodes instead of true leaves.
The phyllodes (leaves) are broad and 6 cm long with the young leaves being bright red.
Occurs in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest and the Swan Coastal Plain in the south of western Austarlia.
Prefers deep well-draining soils in a protected semi-shaded position. Drought and frost resistant.
The best time to sow Acacia seed is:
Cool climates: September to May.
Temperate climates: September to May.
Sub-Tropical climates: August to May
Tropical climates: September to November or March to May.
Arid climates: August to May.
- soak in water for 24-48 hours.
- Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
- Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

- Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
- As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
