An ornamental weeping shrub 2-6 meters tall or a small tree that can reach a height of up to 8 meters produces yellow spherical flowers from March to August, with the primary bloom occurring in May and June.

The bark of these trees is fibrous. The main trunks and branchlets start off silvery and are covered with fine, silky hair, but as they mature, they become smooth.

Phyllodes (leaves) are strap-like, narrowly linear, 15-23 cm long, and strap-like, 1-4 mm wide

Seed pods are 15-32 cm long and 6-13 mm wide, and curved, twisted or openly coiled (sometimes into a circle)
The seeds are shiny black 4-6 mm wide, and the aril bright orange.

It occurs naturally in the regions of Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Pilbara and the Swan Coastal Plain in Western Australia.

For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.

  1.  soak in water for 24-48 hours.
  2. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  3. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
