Acacia cowleana is a shrub to small tree up to 8 metres high that produes bright yellow flowers occur in elongated spikes up to 300 mm during winter and spring
The phyllodes are 8 to 20 cm long by 10-30 mm wide, narrowly oval and curved in shape.
Grows in arid climates and the warm temperate climates.
Occurs naturally in the regions of Ashburton, Broome, Derby-West Kimberley, East Pilbara, Halls Creek and Port Hedland.
Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.
The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.
- Sow in a well drained mix.
- Soak in water 24 hours
- Next, soak seeds in near boiling water for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
- Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
- Place in a semi-shaded postion.
- Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
