An attractive Acacia with grey-green fern-like foliage. The new growth is very soft, silvery, and felt like to touch. Bright yellow flowers occur from July to November.
Bark can be smooth through to deeply fissured, dark grey-brown, often with a mottled appearance.
Endemic to New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania although it has also become naturalised in parts of South Australia and Western Australia.
Adaptable to a wide range of conditions and soils, but prefers moist well-draining soil with annual rainfall above 550mm a year.
Tolerant of cold, frost, and winds, but does not like waterlogged soils or extended dry periods.
For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
