Acacia eremaea is a dense shrub or tree that typically grows to a height of 1.2 to 4 metres. It produces spherical yellow flowers in groups of two to four in the axils, which are densely packed with golden-coloured flowers from July to October.
Instead of true leaves, it has phyllodes, which are elongated leaf-like structures. The evergreen phyllodes are elliptic-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic.
After flowering, it forms straight to slightly curved seed pods that are strongly raised over each seed. The pods are globous, up to 9 cm long, and contain glossy brown seeds.
The plant occurs naturally in the Mid-West and Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia. It commonly grows in a variety of soils, including sandy, stony, and clay. It is often found in saline depressions, stony clay flats, and around salt lakes, thriving in clay and clay-loam soils.
