A fast-growing tropical Acacia often with a straight trunk that can grow to 30 meters in height in ideal conditions.

Flowers occur profusely in a spectacular display of pale yellow rod-shaped blooms from March to July in its native range.
Widely used site rehabilitation and commercial for its timber.

Adaptable to a range of soil and is tolerant to low fertility soils with impeded drainage but prefers fertile sites with good drainage.
Occurs naturally in Northeastern Queensland and the Western Province of Papua New Guinea and the Eastern Maluku Islands.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
