Commonly known as the Golden Rain Wattle or Gosford Wattle ACACIA prominens is a very showy species of Acaicia. Typically take the form of a dense shrub or tree 5-9 metres tall that displays an abundance of showy, spherical flower, heads with a diameter of 3 to 5 mm that contains 8 to 15 lemon-yellow to pale yellow-coloured flowers between July and September.
The phyllodes (leaves) are narrowly elliptic to narrowly oblong-elliptic, 2.5–6 cm long and 4–12 mm wide.
Occurs naturally along the creek banks and forests of near coastal areas from Gosford to Singleton in New South Wales.
Conservation status in NSW: Endangered Population
Adaptable to well drained to moist soils in an open sunny position. Drought tolerant.</
Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.
The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
