One of Australia's showiest Wattle with an erect slender stem and spectacular displays of flowers occurring with deep yellow spherical flowers that appear on long stalks in spring.
Like most species of Acacia, it has phyllodes rather than true leaves, phyllodes are bright green phyllodes 2.5 cm long that are narrow and sticky.

Occurs naturally in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Coolgardie and the Swan Coastal Plain in Western Australia.

Prefers light well-drained soil in an open sunny position. Well suited to sandy soils and long dry summers. Drought resistant and moderately frost tolerant.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
