A fast-growing large shrub or small evergreen tree that can grow up to 3-13 meters tall and displays globose cream to pale yellow flowers from February to June with pendulous, willow-like branchlets and blue-green phyllodes (leaves) that give it a weeping appearance.
The seed pods are straight or slightly curved, woody, and slightly wrinkled when dry. The seeds are shiny, black, and have crimson arils.
Acacia salicina is a versatile ornamental plant useful for inland gardens. Due to its bushy habit, it's an excellent windbreak plant.
Occurs throughout Australia, growing in regions receiving in excess of 1500mm annually in northern Queensland and as low as 100mm annually in central Australia. does well in full sun exposure and tolerates frosts down to -7°C
