A shrub or small tree with long narrow phyllodes (leaves) up to 18 cm long. Flowering occurs profusely in short sprays of yellow flowers from June or August to October in its natural range.
Occurs naturally in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Coolgardie, Geraldton Sandplains, Murchison, and Yalgoo in Western Australia.
A hardy species that is well suited to dry conditions. Drought tolerant.
Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.
The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.
- Sow in a well drained mix.
- Soak in water 24 hours
- Next, soak seeds in near boiling water for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
- Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
- Place in a semi-shaded postion.
- Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
