An attractive less well-known Wattle with long curving branches and bright yellow rod-shaped flowers 2.5cm long that occur profusely on long loose spikes during winter and spring.

Blue-green leaves are 8 cm long and 4 cm wide and taper to a point.

Occurs naturally in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Prefers light well-drained soil on an open sunny position. Drought tolerant and frost resistant once established.

Victoria Conservation code: V - Vulnerable in Victoria: not presently endangered but likely to become so soon due to continued depletion; occurring mainly on sites likely to experience changes in land use which would threaten the survival of the plant in the wild; or, taxa whose total population is so small that the likelihood of recovery from disturbance, including localised natural events such as drought, fire or landslip, is doubtful.

Pre-treatment: Hot Water
Place the seed in a container, pour in just boiled water, and allow to soak overnight.
The swollen seed can then be sown, and seeds that have not swollen can be re-treated.
Sow seed 3-5mm and keep moist. Germination should occur in 10-21 days @ 18-22C.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
