An attractive less well-known Wattle with long curving branches and bright yellow rod-shaped flowers 2.5cm long that occur profusely on long loose spikes during winter and spring.
Blue-green leaves are 8 cm long and 4 cm wide and taper to a point.
Occurs naturally in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Prefers light well-drained soil on an open sunny position. Drought tolerant and frost resistant once established.
Victoria Conservation code: V - Vulnerable in Victoria: not presently endangered but likely to become so soon due to continued depletion; occurring mainly on sites likely to experience changes in land use which would threaten the survival of the plant in the wild; or, taxa whose total population is so small that the likelihood of recovery from disturbance, including localised natural events such as drought, fire or landslip, is doubtful.
The best time to sow Acacia seed is:
Cool climates: September to May.
Temperate climates: September to May.
Sub-Tropical climates: August to May
Tropical climates: September to November or March to May.
Arid climates: August to May.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.
