An attractive small, dense, fast-growing dome-shaped shrub with triangular phyllodes (leaves) and rounded lemon-yellow flowers in clusters on stalks 10-20 mm stalks. Flowers occur over the winter months into early spring.

Easily grown in most temperate areas and suited to a range of soils including limestone provided it is reasonably free draining. Flowers best in full sun, frost hardy and drought tolerant with good tolerance to salty winds.

Native to Western Australia in the IBRA Regions of the Geraldton Sandplains and Swan Coastal Plain.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
