An unusual low-growing Acacia (typically 30 to 60 cm) that is commonly known as the Grass Wattle as it produces grass or rush-like phyllodes (leaves)
Flowers occur as creamy-yellow to deep yellow balls either singly or in pairs from the months of May to October but mainly June to September in its natural range.

Occurs naturally in the South-West Province of Western Australia.

Prefers a light to gravelly soil in a well-drained open sunny position.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
