An erect slender stem with open textured crown and leaves with 3 lobe's turning red in autumn.
The maple is one of the rare maples with flowers of any interest, yellow and fragrant which appear in spring before the leaves.
It can also be trained as bonsai very successfully.
Prefers a well drained light to medium alkaline in a protected sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender.
Native to China and Japan.
