The Baobab tree can be easily identified by its swollen trunk base, which gives it a bottle-like shape. Some Baobab trees can have an extremely large trunk base, with a recorded diameter of over five meters.
It typically loses its leaves during the dry winter season and produces new leaves and large white flowers between December and May.
The Baobab tree is the only Adansonia species in Australia. It is found in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and extends east into the Northern Territory.
It can grow in different areas if it is not exposed to frost. During the growing season, it prefers well-drained sandy soil with plenty of water, but it prefers drier conditions when it is dormant during winter.
The tree grows slower in cooler regions.

Pre-treatment: Hot Water
Place the seed in a container, pour in just boiled water, and allow to soak overnight.
The swollen seed can then be sown, and seeds that have not swollen can be re-treated.
Sow the seeds 10mm deep and keep them moist but not too wet, or they will rot. Germination should occur in 10-21 days @ 18-30°C
