An attractive Aloe with almost light blue leaves that occurs in an unusual form when young (2-5 years) when the leaves grow opposite from the stem, hence the name “Book Aloe.”
Bright red flowers form on tall, narrow stalks during the winter months.
As the plant matures, it forms a rosette of blue-green leaves.
Occurs naturally from Northern South Africa and Swaziland.
The secret to growing aloe is to create a free-draining mix that will not become waterlogged. Aloe seeds can be easily propagated in sandy and well-drained potting soil during spring or summer.
Once you've sown the seeds, cover them with a thin layer of sand (1-2mm) and keep the soil moist but not too wet.
It's best to keep the seeds in a warm and shady area.
When the seedlings are sufficiently grown to handle, they can be planted out.
It usually takes about three weeks for the seeds to germinate when the soil temperature is around 23°C.
