Amaranthus hypochondriacs Green Thumbs is a short variety of Amaranth that grows to 60cm tall with soft green upright flower spikes from mid-summer until late autumn.
The apple-green colour goes well with most other colours, making it a valuable plant for filling border gaps.
It is also suitable for cutting and is fantastic in flower arrangements, making it an excellent cut flower and a long-blooming border plant.
Also known as the Amaranth prince’s feather. This perennial evergreen prefers Mediterranean, subtropical, temperate, and tropical climates.
In cold climates, it grows as an annual.
Amaranth is a warm-season crop.
The best time for sowing the seed:
Amaranth is easy to grow from seed. Cover the seed lightly and keep moist.
Germination: usually 7-10 days
For succession planting, stagger seed sow every 3-4 weeks for continued production.
