Asters are one of the most popular varieties of flowers to grow as they are guaranteed to prove a spectacular display of colour. This double-needle variety is in pink, red, yellow, violet, and blue colours. Hardy, they are excellent plants for long-lasting cut flowers. Aster performs well in a variety of situations including pots, containers, and borders.
Grow notes:
Tropical: Late Winter to Early Summer.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 6mm deep.
For best results sow directly into the soil where they are to grow. If growing in trays transplant when large enough to handle avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 10-14 days.
Plant space: 25cm
Flowering: 14 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
Adaptable to most soils but prefers a light to medium soil in an open sunny position, it is drought and frost tender.
