Mrs. Burns' Lemon basil is an heirloom cultivar of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum) from New Mexico in the United States. 
Considered by many as the finest lemon basil available, it has a more intense flavour, the leaves are larger, and the plant itself is more robust

A must to have in the kitchen where it compliments many different cuisines Wonderfully.
Culinary uses include but are not limited to Pesto, tomatoes, soups, vegetables, seafood, meat, poultry, eggs, rice, tea and cheese.

The flavour of basil is reduced when flowers appear, pinch out the buds to encourage new leaf growth.
Easy to look after, and great to grow in pots or containers.

It can be grown in the herbs/vegetable garden and in pots. Flowers attract honeybees and other beneficial insects.

Grow notes:

Adaptable to most well-drained rich soil in a sunny position with an adequate amount of water.

The best time to sow the seed is in Spring after the last frost.

  • Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting. This will help soften the seed coat and speed up the germination process.
  • Plant the seeds in well-draining soil as they prefer moist soil but don’t like to be waterlogged.
  • Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and keep them moist but not wet.
  • Position the pots in a warm and bright location, but not in direct sunlight.
  • Once the seedlings emerge, you can transplant them into individual pots or your garden

Germination: 10 to 21 days.

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
