The most productive of the basils this large Italian variety is excellent for pesto and basil in oil. The large curly leaves are 100 mm wide by 150 mm long and are borne on a compact plant. Leaves hold their flavour well under hot growing conditions, and the plant is slower to flower, ensuring a longer harvest period.
Adaptable to most well-drained soil in a protected sunny position with an adequate amount of water.
