The purple king is a climbing bean that produces attractive, oval, purple string beans that grow up to 18 centimetres long and produces purple flowers.

A great tasting bean which turns green when cooked.
A popular variety that produces prolific yields and harvests over many weeks.

Beans are a good source of protein, carbohydrate, vitamin B and fibre.
Climbing beans are a warm season crop. 

Adaptable to most good garden soils, prefers an open sunny position.

Phaseolus originate from the Americas.

Germination guide: 

Best sown directly in a growing position in fertile soil.

In cool and temperate climates, sow from September to February.
In tropical climates, sow from February to October.

  1. Sow seeds 20-30 millimetres deep. .
  2. Seeds apart: 10-25 centimetres.
  3. Row space: 100 centimetres.

Germination: 10 to 20 days.
Maturity: 50-80 days.
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
