An attractive Bergamot with mauve-purple flowers. The foliage has a pungent mint scent and flavor and is popular for making tea.
This wild bergamot is native and widespread in North America and found in floodplains, along shorelines, in open woodlands, and in prairies with moderate moisture.
A useful plant as it also attracts beneficial insects to the garden.
Tropical: Autumn to early winter.
Temperate: Spring to Autumn.
Cool climate: Spring to Autumn.
Sow 2mm direct in the growing position for the best results. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle avoiding excessive root disturbance.
Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position.
Germination: 14-28 days
