Iberis gibraltarica
Stock: Available
SKU Code: F 170
Family: Brassicaceae
Characteristics: Perennial 30-40 cm
Seeds per packet: Approx 50
This low growing perennial is very similar to Iberis sempervirens, except the large flowers are pale lavender pink instead of white. It is a short shrub with rosettes of wedge shaped, medium green leaves.
Compared to the traditional Candytuft, this beefy species offers a decadent flower display. In mid spring, the whole plant disappears under an abundance of flat, light violet to pinkish white blossoms, creating a lasting mound of colour.
Hardy plant that is adaptable to most soils and positions, drought and frost resistant.
Tropical: Early Spring to Late Autumn.
Temperate: Spring to Late Autumn.
Cool climate: Mid-Spring to Autumn.
Sow: 5mm deep
Sow direct or sow in trays and transplant when large enough to handle.
Plant in a well-drained soil in a sunny position.
Plant space: 40-50cm
Germination: 10-20 days
Feed regularly with as soluble fertiliser for healthier, stronger plants.
