Cayenne chilli peppers are very hot, use fresh in hot sauces, dried or ground for cayenne pepper or pepper flakes or threaded onto a string as an attractive 'Rista' craft decoration.
These attractive plants are covered with long, thin peppers which mature from emerald green to a scarlet red.
This variety was first documented in 1493 by Christopher Columbus.

Grow notes:

Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained, well fed soil in a sunny position. Annual in temperate climates perennial in the tropics.
Capsicums and Chilli require warmth for germination, if starting early provide warmth.

Temperate: Early Spring to Early Summer
Cold: Mid-Spring to Early Summer

Sow: 6mm deep.
Grow in trays of a good seed raising mix and transplant when 6-7cm tall.
Germination: 10-14 days.
Plant space: 50cm
Row space: 50cm
Maturity: 10-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
