A small Heirloom dark red Mexican chilli 5 to 7.5 cm long that are also known as “Birds Beak” or “Rats Tail Chilli”

Chile de Arbol peppers can be used fresh, cooked, or powdered. The thin-skinned fruits of Chile de Arbol are ideal for drying and retain their dark red colour when dried.

The heat index is between 15,000 - 30,000 Scoville units.

Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained, well fed soil in a sunny position. Annual in temperate climates perennial in the tropics.

Capsicums require warmth for germination, if starting early provide warmth.

Cold: Mid-Spring to Early Summer

Sow: 6mm deep.
Grow in trays of a good seed raising mix and transplant when 6-7cm tall.
Germination: 10-14 days.

Maturity: 10-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
