This South American heirloom variety is closely related to the Guajillo chilli and similar in flavour and colour although they are smaller and hotter.

Fruits are 12 cm long turning from deep green to deep red and like many other Mexican chilli they have a fruity taste and aroma that blends well in salsas.
Scoville heat units are 5000 to 8000.

Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained, well fed soil in a sunny position. Annual in temperate climates perennial in the tropics.

Capsicums require warmth for germination, if starting early provide warmth.

Sow: 6mm deep.
Grow in trays of a good seed raising mix and transplant when 6-7cm tall.
Germination: 10-14 days.

Maturity: 10-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
