An orange spiky cucumber with a subtle banana and passionfruit flavour.
African horned cucumber is a traditional food plant indigenous to Southern and Central Africa that can be eaten young, mature green or when yellow ripe. can be eaten fresh, made into juice, or used in a fruit salad. 

The fruit's seeds are covered in a gelatine-like substance with a slight sweetness. Boiling it until soft the fruit can be made into a jelly by straining it and again boiling the fruit pulp with a cup of sugar for each cup of water. 

A long keeper it is believed to have arrived in Australia with Boer War soldiers it is also known as Kiwano or Jelly Melon.

Grow notes:

Adaptable to most good garden soils that are well-drained in a sunny position; provide adequate food and water.
