A productive and prolific gherkin variety produces short, firm-fleshed, tasty fruits that are ideal for pickling or for use in salads throughout an extended season. Pick them small at 5 cm for pickling or at 10 cm for slicing.

This hybrid cucumber is bred to resist scab, angular leaf spot, anthracnose, powdery mildew, and downy mildew.

Cucumbers have been cultivated for at least 3,000 years. The cultivated cucumbers, known as "Cucumis sativus", were domesticated in India from wild varieties.

Cucumbers are a warm-season crop; they will thrive when grown under full sun. The best way to sow them is in well-drained soil with compost and mature animal manure mixed trough.
Sow 2-3 seeds in a mound and thin to the strongest two directly in the garden 10mm deep and 50cm apart, with rows 100cm apart. Keep soil moist and avoid drying out.
Germination occurs in around 5-10 days at an optimum soil temperature of 18-34°C

Cool climates: October to December.
Temperate: September to February.
Sub-tropical: June to March.
Tropical: February to September
Arid climates: August to February.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate; keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • Customers should do their due diligence to ensure the product suits their region.
