Sweet scented Dianthus Herald of Spring has a lovely mix of bold reds and pinks and as the name suggest is an early flowering cultivar.
A wonderful example of the diversity of this popular garden plant. A great addition to any flower or rock garden, stunning mass planted. Establishes readily from seed.
Adaptable to most well-drained soils in a sunny position. Fertile soils will produce the best blooms, avoid waterlogged soils.
Tropical: Early Autumn to Late Spring.
Temperate: Late Summer to Late Spring.
Cold: Autumn & Spring.
Sow: 3mm deep.
Grow in trays transplant when large enough to handle (about 4-5 weeks) avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 10-14 days.
Plant space: 15-30cm
Flowering: 18-20 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
