An Asian variety from Thailand used extensively in Asian cuisine that is also known as Hmong Red that produces bright red, round, ribbed fruits 75mm diameter on 60-90cm plants. The fruits are very tasty when green but turn bitter as they mature to red.
Best when harvesting young (green). Used as “miniature pumpkins" in floral arrangements.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most good garden soils that is well composted and free draining. Requires full sun and a long growing season. Perennial in the tropics but generally grown as an annual in temperate zones.
