Eucalyptus forrestiana, also known as Fuchsia Gum, is a small and bushy Mallee tree that can grow up to 1-4 m tall and 3m wide. It has bright red buds that open up to reveal attractive yellow flowers.
It is well-suited to drier areas and its flowers and fruit are commonly used for cut flowers.
It is a small mallee or bushy tree that is easily recognizable by its large four-sided winged buds that are bright red. The horn-capped pendulous buds are grouped long before opening to the mass of beautiful yellow flowers.
This tree makes a great specimen tree and is ideal for attracting native birds to your garden.
Although seeds can be sown most of the year if you avoid the coldest and hottest months, spring is generally the best time to sow.
The grow mix should be well-draining, preferably with organic compost. This will replicate the soil they require in nature.
A potting mix is not recommended.
