Small Mallee to 5m high with rough flakey fibrous pale grey to grey brown bark at the base and smooth, tan to pinkish-grey to cream bark above.
Juvenile leaves ovate, adult leaves are lanceolate 125 mm long and 25 mm wide. Pale, creamy-yellow flowers occur in the leaf axils in clusters of 7-11.
Occurs naturally in the desert regions of the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions of Western Australia and the arid regions of South Australia.
Prefers well-drained soil in a sunny position, drought and frost resistant. Survives of an annual rainfall of less than 300 mm.
Best sown in spring or autumn in temperate climates, avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year. The optimum temperature for germination is around 18-22°C
Sow seed in a seed-raising mix just below the surface.
Water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days.
