Characteristics: Tree to 18m or mallee in subalpine conditions

A colourful species of eucalyptus that can be variable in height from a multi-stemmed mallee in sub-alpine conditions to a straight tree to 18 metres in more favourable conditions.
The attractive erect stout stem with smooth white to pale grey bark exhibits large yellowish green patches are a feature of this tree.
White flowers occur from yellowish brown ovate flower buds.
Endemic to Tasmania.
Prefers a well-drained soil in an open sunny position, frost resistant but drought tender.
Best sown in spring or autumn in temperate climates, avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year. The optimum temperature for germination is around 18-22°C
Sow seed in a seed-raising mix just below the surface.
Water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days.
