One of the most spectacular flowering Eucalypts this highly ornamental mallee can grow up to 8 metres in its natural habitat but is often smaller in cultivation. Smooth deciduous bark and thick greyish-green leaves.
Distinguished by the very large ovate to conical and ridged with peaked capped flower buds bud in clusters of three.
The flowers that appear from these large buds in late winter to late spring are truly amazing and very striking can be cream, yellow, pink, or crimson red.
Endemic to Western Australia.
Prefers light to medium well-drained soil in an open sunny position, drought-resistant but frost tender.
Although seed can be sown most of the year around if you avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year, the best time to sow is generally spring.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C
