An Italian Heirloom variety that produces large bulbs that are a popular favorite for Italian cooking. The feathery leaves resemble dill and are ideal in salads or fish dishes as a dill substitute. Ideal in small spaces as it does not grow as tall as common fennel.
The Romanesco variety has large round bulbs between 500g and 1kg. High bolting resistance, great for late cropping.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to most good fertile garden soils prefers a sunny position.
Tropical: Autumn.
Temperate: Late Summer & Autumn.
Cool climate: Spring to Summer.
Sow: 6 mm deep
Sow direct in the growing position for best results. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle avoiding excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 10-20 days
