French Marigold ‘Red Cherry’ produce velvet-textured, brightly coloured medium-sized blooms with deep red and golden yellow petals.
The compact dwarf plants grow to just 30 cm and are long-blooming.
Recommended for containers, beds & borders, and the pollinator garden. Also useful for the control of insect pests in the vegetable garden,
The essential oil from Tagetes patula is used in perfumery.
Tagetes patula is native to the highlands of central Mexico despite being often referred to as French marigold.
Adaptable to most garden soils in an open sunny position.

Tropical: All Year Round
Temperate: Spring, Summer and Autumn
Cold: Spring and Summer
Sow: Sow 5-6mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays of a quality seed-raising mix and transplant when 6cm tall.
Germination: 10-14 days
Plant space: 30cm
Flowering: 12 weeks
Remove spent flowers to encourage dense growth and new flowers.
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for more vigorous plants.
