Small mostly erect herb native to the USA with a glandular stem often coated in cobwebby fibres. The leaves are arranged in a rounded basal rosette, each leaf divided sharply into many subdivided lobes.
The top of the stem is an inflorescence of violet blue flowers with yellow and white throats. The base of the flower is a thin, glandular tube.
Prefers a well-drained average to slightly sandy soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Autumn & Winter.
Temperate: Late Winter to Early Autumn.
Cool climate: Spring to Late Summer.
Sow: 1mm deep
Sow direct or in trays. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle avoiding excessive root disturbance.
Plant in a well-drained soil in a sunny position.

Germination: 14-21 days
Water regularly in dry weather and cut back all spent blooms to prolong flowering.
