Deep carmine rose and white bicolour azalea-like flowers and lush green foliage. Ideal for use in annual borders adding height and colour and equally good as cut flowers.
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a moist, well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Clarkia is an easy flower to grow from seed.
- The best time to sow Clarkia seeds directly outdoors is in the spring after the danger of frost has passed.
- Choose a location that receives full sun or partial shade.
- Add some compost or organic matter for good drainage. Sow seeds about 5mm deep and keep the soil moist until germination, which usually takes 1-2 weeks.
- Once the seedlings are about 10cm tall, thin them out for good air circulation.
