A member of the mint family that deserves a place in any herb garden. Older plants form neat, rounded bushes 30-90 cm (1-3’) that can be used as a dwarf hedge that responds well to trimming.
Hyssop has a long history of medicinal use and was so highly esteemed in the past that it was considered a virtual cure for almost everything.
As a medicinal herb, hyssop has soothing, expectorant, and cough suppressant properties. The plant can be harvested when in full flower and dried for later use. A tea made from the leaves is used in the treatment of flatulence, stomach aches and upper respiratory tract infections coughs.
