Isopogons are related to Grevilleas and Banksias.

Compact shrub that produces barrel-shaped yellow inflorescences that appear from September to January on the ends of stems. Measuring 2.5 to 3 cm across, they contain many yellow or cream individual flowers. Flowering is followed by relatively large hairy grey fruit.
Prune regularly to maintain shape. Attracts birds.

Endemic to the south coast of Western Australia.
Prefers dry summers and excellent drainage and will tolerate moderate frosts.

Pre-treatment of smoke is recommended for this species.
Smoke treatments are simple and can be undertaken either by soaking the seed overnight or by applying it to the surface after sowing, both provide good results. Smoke treatments are available by clicking here.
Seeds of Isopogon can be erracit and difficult to propagate but not impossible.
Sow seed on the surface of a porous seed-raising mix and cover lightly.
Place in a warm semi-shaded position to avoid dying out.

Germination: 21-42 day 15-25°C
