A strongly aromatic shrub native to the Western Mediterranean region the English lavender is commonly grown as an ornamental plant.
It is popular for its colourful flowers, its fragrance and its ability to survive with low water consumption. Lavender coloured flowers occurring as spikes 2-8 cm long on top of slender stem 10-30cm above to foliage.

Prefers a light to medium well-drained soil in an open sunny position, drought and frost tolerant.

Tropical: Spring. 
Temperate: Spring.
Cold: Spring.

Sow: 5mm deep.
Grow in trays and transplant when large enough to handle avoid  excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 14-21 days.
